SKINCARE WITH SALICYLIC ACID

For oily or blemish-prone skin, the best option for a salicylic acid cleanser will have a higher concentration of SA, either in a gel or foaming consistency to gently purify the skin. A salicylic acid serum can provide a potent concentration of salicylic acid to penetrate deep into the skin and remove excess oil and dead skin cells. For a concentrated but gentle salicylic acid serum, we recommend the Effaclar Anti-Acne Salicylic Acid Serum.

The right concentration will depend on your skin type and skin needs. Between 0.5 and 2% salicylic acid is commonly used, depending on the formula and additional ingredients. Oily and blemish-prone skin can tolerate salicylic acid on the higher end of salicylic acid concentration.

This will depend on your skin type. Salicylic acid is a stronger chemical exfoliant that can be too harsh for daily use on sensitive or dry skin. Sensitive skin especially may only be able to tolerate a salicylic acid formula once or twice a week. But if you have oily skin, it is possible to use a salicylic acid formula daily. Just make sure you introduce the product slowly, gradually increasing frequency up to daily.
