INNOVATING SUSTAINABLY
As we innovate our products at La Roche-Posay, we focus on reducing our impact on our plant and delivering more sustainable outcomes for our people. One way we seek to do this is through our commitment to reducing the use of plastic by 70% by 2025 through more sustainable packaging designs. In 2020, La Roche-Posay was the first dermocosmetics brand to launch a tube integrating cardboard, with 45% less plastic than an average plastic tube. Since then, we have rolled out this technology worldwide, with plans to bring it to Australia in the near future. At a global level, La Roche-Posay has also launched Eco Refill products with 77% less plastic than an average bottle, set to launch in Australia soon.
PRODUCING SUSTAINABLY
Since 2018, La Roche-Posay has been manufacturing its products in a factory that uses 100% renewable energy .This has contributed to the L’Oréal Group achieving a 91% reduction in the CO2 emissions of our plants and distribution centres, in absolute terms compared to 2005. In addition, the Group has implemented water saving and waste initiatives across all of its industrial sites to minimise its environmental footprint. This has resulted in a 53% reduction in the amount of water (per finished product) used in our plants and distribution centres, compared to 2005, and an increase in the amount of waste that is diverted from landfill. In 2022, 61% of the waste generated at our sites across the world was reused or recycled. Please find more information here.
DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLY
A key priority for La Roche-Posay is to deliver a positive social impact through our work with our stakeholders and partners. We foster access to work through global programs, such as our Solidarity Sourcing Program, where our shea butter and shea olein project supports over 35,426 women in Burkina Faso, by providing a fair price, access to training, equitable income and the establishment of community projects. The careful sourcing of these ingredients guarantees their quality and protects biodiversity.
LIVING SUSTAINABLY
At La Roche-Posay, we strive to empower our consumers to make sustainable choices. To achieve this goal , the Group is carrying out a number of initiatives. La Roche-Posay assesses brand footprint through a design tool called SPOT: Sustainable Product Optimisation Tool . SPOT, which was created by a methodology devised with the help of international experts, allows La Roche-Posay to evaluate the social and environmental profile of our products.
