Bottom-line is that body moisturisers and body lotions are formulated to achieve the same goals which is to support skin health through hydration and moisturising of the skin. However, a few main differences are that lotions are normally thinner to a moisturiser or a cream and is not recommended to use on the face. Whereas, body moisturisers are thicker in consistency, more moisturising to the skin, also working to lock in moisture and can be used on the face if needed. Body moisturisers and lotions can be used by all skin types, however the seasonality may dictate its use for some skin types such as oily skin or dry skin. Oily skin types may prefer to use lotions in the summer due to a lighter consistency vs using a moisturiser in the winter.
