Cicaplast B5 Serum for Dry Skin

The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum is a hydrating repair serum for dry skin. It is formulated with 10% Vitamin B5 that has antioxidant properties that help protect the skin against free radical damage and support the skin moisture barrier.
Vitamin B5 also helps retain moisture within the skin's moisture barrier, making this a suitable serum for dry skin types.

The Cicaplast B5 serum also includes HEPES or Sulfonic Acid that helps to gently exfoliate the skin and remove built-up dirt, impurities, or dead skin cells, making it suitable for those with oil and acne-prone skin types. Yes, the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum can be used with salicylic acid. If used with a salicylic acid serum, such as our Effaclar Facial Serum, it is recommended to apply the Cicaplast B5 Serum first, to help support the skin moisture barrier. This is especially useful for sensitive skin types or if you are new to salicylic acid. If used with a salicylic acid moisturiser, such as our Effaclar Duo Plus Moisturiser, apply the Cicaplast B5 Serum first and then follow with the moisturiser.

The Cicaplast B5 Serum must be used before moisturiser. Moisturisers tend to be thicker that serums as they usually contain fatty acids, or oil-based ingredients. Applying a serum on top of your face moisturiser may not fully allow the ingredients to be absorbed, leaving the serum sitting on top of your skin. It is a recommended best practice to layer your skincare products from thinnest to thickest consistency. Lightweight serums such as the Cicaplast B5 Serum are better applied before a moisturiser and after cleansing or exfoliating to help the ingredients in the serum to be properly absorbed into the skin and in turn be more effective. It is recommended to use the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum before any retinol products, whether it is a retinol serum or a retinol cream. This is to help support and hydrate your skin’s moisture barrier and to prep your skin for the retinol application to follow. Retinol is a versatile ingredient with many benefits, however, if not used correctly may lead to irritation prone skin or may have adverse effects. It is recommended to follow the ‘sandwich method’ when applying ingredients such as retinol, salicylic acid or other exfoliating ingredients.
