Blemishes on the face and body are true confidence-busters. No surprise then that one of the top questions asked of dermatologists is just how long acne lasts. We reached out to Dr. Philippe Beaulieu for the inside scoop.
"Patients are desperate to know when their acne will stop", he explains.
"It's most common in teenagers and young adults. It actually affects about 80% of teenagers and up to 40% of adults. If left untreated, acne can go on for several years."(1)
Dr. Philippe Beaulieu also points out that acne sometimes lasts well into adult life, particularly in women.
"Acne isn't just for teens. Over a third of adult women suffer from the condition long-term, often getting breakouts in tandem with their cycle. Even babies are sometimes affected too."
