4 Expert tips for a gentle, pleasant bath

Bathing your baby is one of the crucial steps in their daily care and hygiene routine. Bath time should be a special time for bonding and togetherness, promoting your baby's well-being.

1. One bath a day at the right temperature

The bath should be neither too hot, which tends to dry the skin, nor too cold, which can be uncomfortable for the baby. Bathe your baby for 5 to 10 minutes at a temperature of 37 degrees and be careful not to put too much water in the bathtub.

2. A gentle, adapted cleanser

Traditional soap has a high pH and strong cleansing agents that can strip the skin's hydrolipidic film. Start by adding a few drops of cleansing oil to the bath to protect your baby's skin. It is important to use a soap-free cleanser that gently cleanses the skin, preserving the cutaneous barrier and considerably reducing sensations of tightness. Most of these gentle cleansers are suitable for washing baby’s hair.

3. Use your fingertips

Washcloths can irritate the skin and can also carry germs. For more gentle cleansing, work the cleanser into lather on your skin using your fingertips to minimize friction, before rinsing thoroughly.

4. Gentle drying

To dry your baby, carefully pat the skin with a hot clean towel, paying particular attention to skin folds to avoid leaving any damp areas which could cause irritation and weaken the epidermis.
