    Squama

Squama is a thin dry shred of skin that sheds from the epidermis. Dead cells are naturally eliminated in the form of tiny scales. In the case of excessive desquamation caused by skin dermatitis (psoriasis) or inflammation of the scalp (dandruff), these scales become visible.
